Baboon city paDel
Padel is the world’s fastest growing sport, and at Baboon City you have a great opportunity to try it or play with your friends, family or colleagues. We have 2 double padel courts with 7 meter ceilings that can be booked from morning to evening both on weekdays and weekends.
The padel courts can be rented by the hour and must generally be booked online. If you’re in Baboon City anyway, it can of course also be combined – perhaps with a parent competition while the children play in Baboon City or a competition with/against the children, and then back to play again. All options are open and the padel courts can therefore also be rented/booked in Baboon City by the staff.
The padel courts are located in the hall behind Baboon City, and the easiest way to get to the padel hall is via Dueoddevej 5, where there are also signs to the hall.

What is padel?
Padel is a sport that is basically played as doubles, i.e. 2 x 2 people. It can be seen as a combination of tennis and squash, as you have to play the ball over the net in the middle of the court and can use the bands. The scoring system is similar to tennis, where you play best out of three sets. A padel court is 10×20 m. The court consists of a frame construction of glass and wire mesh and a base of artificial grass and sand. The balls used in padel are similar to tennis balls, but softer, and you play with a bat with a hard surface without strings.
The bands on the court make it difficult to finish duels, which means that you can quickly enjoy playing padel without having great technical skills. Anyone can play padel – it’s easy to learn and a sport for all ages.
The rules of padel
Point – You count like in tennis – i.e. 15, 30, 40, the game. 1 set = 6 games (always at least a difference of 2. I.e. e.g. 6-4. If it says 5-5, you play to 7-5. If the score is 6-6, you play a tie-break.
The tie-break starts with the player who would serve in the “normal” game. This player only serves the first point and serves from the right side. After the first point, the opponent serves the next two points and so on.
The tie-break is won by the first pair to reach 7 points with a minimum difference of two (e.g. 7-5).
Serve
Each point starts with a serve. You are entitled to one first serve – if it fails, you are entitled to one second serve. The serve must be an underhand serve. The ball must always bounce/slam into the ground (with your hand) behind the line before hitting the ball with the racket. The serve line must not be touched with the feet. The server must have at least one foot in contact with the ground. The server may only hit the ball at or below the belt line. Never above!
The ball must hit inside the opponent’s service area (diagonally) or on the line. If the ball hits the serve and bounces on the glass walls before the second bounce on the ground, the serve is good. If the ball hits the serve and bounces on the metal fence before the second bounce on the ground, the serve is faulty.
Serve reception
The ball must hit the service area once before you return the ball. You can also wait to hit the ball until it has hit the glass wall, as long as it does not hit the ground twice.
In general
The ball may hit the back walls several times as long as it has touched the ground once. You can never hit the ball twice in a row and the ball cannot hit the ground twice in a row on the same side of the net.
You must not shoot the ball back to the opponent until it has crossed the edge of the net.
You wear indoor shoes – preferably Padel shoes, or tennis-like shoes.
